Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been identified as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London last September.
The incident reportedly occurred on 6 September in Cockfosters, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend. Police arrested a 31-year-old man two days later on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has been released on bail pending further investigation.
There is no suggestion that the suspect is Udogie’s agent. The 21-year-old Italian international was not on national duty at the time and returned to play in Spurs’ next match — a 3-1 league win over West Ham on 13 September.
A Tottenham spokesperson said:
“We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment further.”
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that no one was injured and that inquiries into the alleged gun threat and blackmail are ongoing.
