Pizza Hut’s UK franchise operator, DC London Pie, has entered administration, leading to the closure of 68 restaurants across the country — from Finchley Lido in London to Carlisle and Rhyl — as well as 11 delivery-only sites. The move puts around 1,210 jobs at risk.
The restructuring follows the appointment of administrators from FTI Consulting, after which Pizza Hut’s parent company, Yum! Brands — which also owns KFC and Taco Bell — stepped in to buy the UK restaurant operations in a pre-pack administration deal.
The deal secures 64 Pizza Hut sites and preserves 1,276 jobs, with those restaurants now being operated directly by Yum! Brands.
Matt Callaghan, joint administrator at FTI, said: “This transaction provides a stable platform for one of the UK’s best-known dine-in brands, securing the continuation of 64 Pizza Hut sites and importantly preserving 1,276 jobs.”
Administrators said they will continue to assist affected employees who have lost their jobs as part of the restructuring.
